The Papa Pride Plumbing Story
Our Master Plumber is Micheal Laurence, Papa Pride or sometimes referred to as ‘Makin’ It Happen’ Mike. Upon becoming a single parent just over 20 years ago, Mike settled down in Porter and fell into plumbing work in order to afford to take care of a young son in diapers. Ever since then he has been taking care of sanitation and water needs for Houston area families and businesses.
Papa Pride has mentored many plumbers and continues to train tradesmen in the meticulous and thoughtful mastery of plumbing skills. Mike created Pride Plumbing for a skilled team of plumbers to have consistent opportunities for work on a variety of plumbing projects from large to small.
With his hard-headed reputation for ‘Makin’ it happen’, Mike has been sought after to solve inustry and city challenges as with mixed materials and in the interfacing of the old with the new in complex renovations or historical projects. Sometimes architects or project managers will try to catch the stubborn Mr. Pride and get his advice on code compliance issues and materials selections. He is happy to oblige and likes looking into proposed or new developments. He is willing to provide conceptual plumbing plans and estimates that help entreprenurs to generate business. With even greater plumbing innovations coming in the pipeline for this industrious city, one can expect to find Mike in the middle of the conversation always with something interesting to say or a surprising observation.
Now that he just made it to grandpa, Papaw Pride looks forward to being part of solutions that will meet the challenges for our next generations. Our ‘Make It Happen’ Mike will not only find ways for businesses and residents to reduce water and energy consumption, he will furthermore propel the vision for the complete elimination of water waste via efficient, localized water reclamation. He would like to provide and improve systems that safely return potable water to the community and also produce energy. Joining a growing group of sustainability minded professionals in the city, this Porter based plumber has another motivation to protect the ecological balance with the nearby growing metropolis as he helps to meet its water and sanitation needs. Mike still hopes that his family will have many more years to further enjoy their home and the green piney wood refuges on the edge of Lake Houston where he settled a generation ago. Little did he know back then that the waterfront that drew him there would represent a career and a lifestyle beyond just making a living for his own family survival but would lead to promoting waterworks in ways where all can thrive around the business of water.
Once you meet Mike will recognize just how the PPI team emulates the Papa Pride's dedication and pride of workmanship; and you will be glad you chose to do business with Pride. No where but north of the big city in Texas do you find a business leader from the back woods who works closely with his employees yet is character more fun to run around with than Super Mario. The Papa Pride can make a pleasant experience out of nasty plumbing work. In spite of the heat or stress, you can often find Mike in the field happily working with his tools alongside his crew. Mike is Makin’ it Happen again as he mentors his son Mike and other craftsmen in a trade growing greener with the technology to keep our precious water clean and bountiful. Perhaps Papa Pride will have inspired the next generation of papas to become the heroic crafty pros who proudly wield water and keep our society in good health.

“If I would be a young man again and had to decide how to make my living,
I would not try to become a scientist or scholar or teacher. I would rather
choose to be a plumber or a peddler in the hope to find that modest degree of
independence still available under present circumstances.” – Albert Einstein,
The Reporter, 18 November 1954 Shortly after making this remark, the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union, A.F.L. in Washington, D.C. voted to grant Einstein an honorary membership. Einstein was reportedly well pleased with this honor.
